And just like that, one more year’s almost gone by. At the beginning of this one I’d made a grocery list of resolutions here. Knowing that no drastic change will occur in the next one month, I decided to do an early post about what i did and did not achieve this year.
Accomplished
- Eight is the number of hours I want to sleep each night, and the number of glasses of water I want to drink each day
- Eat a fruit each night with dinner.
- Read at least one book each month. Also return library books on time, to avoid unwanted fees!
- Keep in touch with friends, family. Email/call/chat. Also, do a better job of remembering birthdays, anniversaries, and other important dates.
- Visit at least 2 new states
- Make important decisions and stand by them for life
- Write for 30 mins in the night, for at least thrice a week.
- No shopping till June.
Not Accomplished
- Practice music daily
- Save at least 50 dollars each month.
- Write down my accounts weekly
- Do not eat sweets or sugar, except during birthday parties. For desperate times, honey’s the way to go.
- Work out five days a week.
- Lose 20 lbs by December 2011.
- Use less of gmail, gtalk, online chatting and skyping services during the weekdays.
- Brush my teeth before bed.
- Count up to 10 before I talk.
I would have been more content if the list had been swapped. But I chose the latter ones knowing how tough they would be for me to keep up, and did work towards achieving them as much as possible. Music, weight loss, finances have and will forever continue to be priorities in my life and a year is never going to be enough time to reach the level I yearn to be at. No more thoughts on that.
Most importantly as the year is coming to an end, if there was one thing that I could point to and feel joyous about then it would be the people I continue to have as friends and family. Through endless conversations – painful, thought provoking, funny, senseless ones I’ve grown to love them more and cherish their presence in my life. There are way too many to be tagged here, but you all know who you are
On that note, adios!
i also want to do this for next year but i’m a) not too kicked out such a public sharing of goals b) more importantly, i’m embarrassed of failing in public
Haha! Aren’t we all afraid? I thought the fear of failing publicly would motivate me to keep up the goals, but now I guess nothing will ever bother me
” The idea is that the more there are the to keep up, the more the satisfaction there shall be at the end of the year, if at least half of them are achieved! ”
Enough said.
