Just as I thought that there was an end to interesting reality shows, with the finale of roadies – there came along the next best show — Rakhi ka swayamvar.
As dim-witted and cheesy as this swayamvar is, I adore it for the how much I can chortle at it, and annoy my near and dear ones with updates from the show! I am becoming more enthusiastic by the day about the ending. I never imagined a reality show becoming a part of my early morning discussions. I wake up to talk about the show with my long lost friend R. Here’s a sample of our daily discussions:
me: i am writing a post about rakhi sawant and her show
R: heheh okie! even im gettin addicted to her stupidity!i watch it daily! lol
me: i know!!
apparently she is gettin married on the 2nd. I really hope that the best comes out of this for her ya
R: seriuosly re… imagine she falls into shit…tht canada guy only s nice
me: i know
R: but he cant talk in hindi…wonder how theyll communicate
me: they will manage that ya
little little adjustments 
Our conversation also went into the first time we noticed Rakhi Sawant. For me, it was a night I returned from chemistry tuition to discover amma sitting glued in front of the television; ready to subject all of us to three hours of endless aaj tak news channel’s torture! And the big news for that night was Rakhi and Mika’s fight over their kiss.
Amma: “Nodu! Eeeginda kaaladu huDugeeru heng aagthaaidaare antha! Thoo.” (Look at whats happening to the modern day girls!)
Me: “Yaawn! Can we switch to kahiin to hoga? Sujal and Kashish might actually get married today for the 50th time!”
Amma: “The episode will repeat tomorrow. See how shamelessly he is kissing her. See and learn what not to do! Boys these days have no control…..”
Two years later, I saw her again on Koffee with Karan, which had me rolling on the floor with laughter from beginning to end.
Coming back to the swayamvar, rumor has it that this show will end like the show for love or money, with the final guy getting a choice between her or a ransom amount of money. He is apparently going to choose money over her, because Rakhi Sawant isn’t a fool to get married over some show!
Whether we see a wedding or not, I genuinely hope for the best for Rakhi Sawant. And to avoid an abrupt ending, here’s an all time favorite remix. Enjoy!

The nadir was however her vish-kanya act in ‘buddha mar gaya’ where whoever slept with her woke up dead…..
go figure!
mohabbat hain mirchi was her first public appearance right?? i havent seen buddha mar gaya, so thankfully i wouldnt know how bad she was!

Reality tv is messing our chance of being taken seriously as a civilization…or maybe I am being too much of an alarmist!
I think it should just be treated as pure entertainment. Dwelling into it too much is definitely a waste of your time!
