Been quite a busy morning, and to add to it, I have this conversation:
‘Yea…so I administered the test yesterday. I did everything except the audio section.’
‘Why?’
‘Well, I didnt have the equipment for it. You might want to check with Becky to see if the department has any.’
‘Mmmm…I actually have a walkman that I can use.So it shudnt be a problem!’
‘Wait….you actually own a walkman?’
Unsure of what is coming next, I hesitantly say ‘Uhhh…yes?!!’
‘Hahahahahaha….Oh my goodness…that is the funniest thing I have heard in ages!! My grandfather used to use those things…Hahaha.’
I now enter a yeh-dharti-phat-jaaye, ya-aasman-mere-sar-pe-gir-jaaye mood…
And then, she calls everybody passing by our office:
‘Hey N…Listen to this…S has a walkman..’
‘What?? Are you serious? Hahaha’
An hour and a half later…I got busy, she got busy. Then:
(giggle, giggle, giggle): ‘I still cant believe you have one of those.When did you buy it?’
‘7 years ago.’
‘Hahaha..that’s even more hillarious…you are ancient now S!!Wowww..you must take good care of your things. Is it a good company?’
‘Sony’
‘Wow…they have sony in India? Thats awesome. Hehehehe’
‘Yea..(silently) I love my walkman 
‘
‘Do you wear limegreen with your walkman?’
‘No’
‘Good. That would make you extreme 80’s…Do you have an mp3 player? CD player? a boombox?’
‘No’
‘Ohh..I have a boombox…I don’t know which one is worse…hehehehe’
Sigh! I wonder how many more such questions I have to suffer through today! All for a walkman, that I’ll never throw. Never!!

I had a walkman until I came to the US, where I was told it was outmoded 10 yrs ago!! I quickly bought myself an ipod and redeemed myself. But now I think walkmans make splendid technological antique pieces! Way to go! You’re a proud owner of one! *Pat pat

I took my Walkman to college 10 yrs ago and never used it once. I’d have been laughed at by all my friends for brandishing a walkman, even in 1999! 4 years later, when Hurricane Isabel rolled by and I lost all power, the trusted Sony with the inbuilt radio kept me company for a week! Of course, after that, I never touched it until I gifted it to the Salvation army on my return home. Those things were super reliable!
